Kappa Chapter
The Kappa Chapter of Sigma Phi Omega was established in Dallas, Texas on December 8, 2013. We take great pride in our philanthropy: Domestic Violence and Sexual Abuse Awareness. Our primary goal is to promote sisterhood and to serve our community through teamwork, unity, and familial bonds.
Sigma Phi Omega is one of the oldest continuing Asian-Interest sororities, going strong with chapters throughout both California and Texas. Additionally, we also have a cousin fraternity, Delta Epsilon Psi. We are eager to host mixers and social events with other local organizations and our other sister chapters. We seek to to strength our bonds, sisterhood, and network through understanding and experience with others. We believe in making positive and impactful impressions within our community, as well as creating relationships that last a lifetime. |
HistorySigma Phi Omega was founded in 1949 at the University of Southern California. At a time when there was significant hostility towards Asian-Americans, our 17 founding mothers sought unity as a response to the aftermath of World War II and Pearl Harbor.
Today, Sigma Phi Omega is the oldest continuing Asian American sorority in the nation. Since 1949, Sigma Phi Omega has expanded across the United States, holding multiple chapters in California and Texas, consisting of a multitude of women from various cultures and backgrounds. |
Motto"The reward is in the doing." As sisters of Sigma Phi Omega, we believe that in everything we in life, no matter the outcome, the process of the attempt to reach our goal is the truest reward. |
Goal"To achieve a greater womanhood." The growth of a woman; through all of life's lessons, through all the people she meets, her goal should always be to grow. |
